Mesa’s City Council said no to a rezoning request for a medical marijuana dispensary on Main Street.
The East Valley Tribune reports the landowner and and developer wanted the land rezoned from commercial to light industrial to open the dispensary.
While the council ultimately voted 4-3 to approve the proposal, it failed because of a quirk in state law, which states whenever 20 percent of local residents protest a zoning application, the measure must receive a super-majority vote.
