Sunset Hills Medical LLC continues to work toward its goal of building and opening a medical marijuana growing facility in Clarion and a dispensary in Monroe Township.
The company’s plans moved ahead last week Sunset Hills completed the purchase of the former “Clarion Clipper” building along South Fifth Avenue (State Route 68) in Monroe Township.
Sunset Hills has already secured a site for its proposed grow facility in Clarion Borough.
According to documents at the Clarion County Register and Recorders office, Sunset Medical paid $299,000 for the building and land. The seller was identified as Donation Hill Partnership.
Mike Barley, spokesman for the Sunset Hills company, said the future of the building itself has not been decided.
“Sunset Hills has purchased the former Clarion Clipper location and we are still determining if we plan to raze and rebuild the property or undertake a major remodeling of the building,” Barley said in an email exchange with the CLARION NEWS.
Sunset Hills has applied for a grow facility license and a dispensary license from the state Department of Health. The awarding of the second round of permits has not been finalized, although Sunset Hills officials said last month they are very hopeful their company will receive the permits.
“If awarded a dispensary license, this would be one of the locations that would serve the public as a place to pick-up medical marijuana medications for certified patients and caregivers,” Barley said of the Monroe Township location.
