OCEAN CITY, Md. – In the state of Maryland, each state senate district can only have two medical cannabis dispensaries. Hi Tide is the second and final medical cannabis dispensary for District 38 and it’s already making some waves in West Ocean City.
They had their soft opening today but patients were already trickling in since opening their doors at 10 a.m.
Inside, Hi Tide has a beach-like theme. With merchandise all around in the airy space, they want to provide comfort to patients.
Clinical Director and owner Robert Davis says, “When you come in here you don’t feel like you’re in a doctor’s office. Nobody wants to be in a doctor’s office, nobody wants to be in a hospital, they want to be in a relax setting. We’re all about helping people get healthy, feel healthy right from the beginning.”
After another dispensary opened up in OC in January, Davis who’s been a pharmacist for 25 years, says it was crucial to come to this part of town. We’re told Ocean Pines has a patient base to use this type of therapy.
“I’m a hospice pharmacist too, where I used to deal with hospice, so I saw the definite need for hospice care and having this type of medication available for them too,” Davis tells us.
Hi Tide hopes to weed out opioids by bringing this alternative to the area.
“People want to have options for their health care. They want to take control of their health care. And with guidance by a pharmacist like myself or other healthcare professionals. I think it’s an additive for people to get their quality of life in a better position,” Davis says.
