Pasadena says cannabis dispensary application process will open later this year

After Pasadena voted to approve a measure earlier this month that will allow cannabis dispensaries to legally operate, the city is scrambling to put together a permit process.

According to a June 14 letter from Assistant City Manager Julie Gutierrez to City Council members, Pasadena’s Planning and Community Development Department “will now take the lead on developing the application procedure, permittee selection process, and general administrative procedures for the implementation of the commercial cannabis program,” Gutierrez wrote. “It is anticipated that the City’s initial application period will open towards the later part of this year.”

Gutierrez directed those seeking more information to visit cityofpasadena.net/planning/marijuana-regulations.
